Safety is our number-one priority. Whether it is during the construction phase of building our houses, or after you’ve moved into your new home, we want to keep your family, our employees and the community safe.

For this reason, we use fire rated OSB as opposed to drywall in all our new homes.  In the case of a fire, the OSB helps slow the spread of flames. It is also more environmentally friendly. Not only is it made from recycled products and can be more easily recycled again in the future, but our framers can install it without the need for masks and glasses.

Using OSB also has many other advantages for our homeowners. For instance, it adds to the longevity and integrity of your home. Instead of being nailed to the home’s frame, staples are used which holds the sheeting in place better than nails (which can become lose). It also creates a stronger base for other materials that are added afterward. This means that the stonework, siding and any other exterior finishings are installed onto a firm base. As a result, they will stay attached and last longer.

Deveryn, our Site Supervisor, covers all these advantages in the video below about why using OSB is better than drywall. It is for all these reasons that every Broadview home is built with fire rated OSB.
