Our warranty technician, Barclay Ross, explains how you can adjust your front door to fix some common problems.

First, if you have a loose handle, Barclay gives you step-by-step instructions on how to tighten it. A handle that is not secure can cause the paint around it to chip so you’ll want to do it right away as soon as you notice a slight jiggle.

Second, when your door is not properly adjusted, you can feel drafts, see dust coming in around the edges of your door or find that your front door is difficult to open. Barclay demonstrates how to adjust the striker plate assembly and threshold for your door. By changing how lose or tight these different parts are; you can make the optimal adjustments that will make it work perfectly.

The only tool that you’ll need to get started is a screwdriver with multiple heads or individual screwdrivers with a Phillips (star) and Robertson (square) head.
